FAQ

These below organizer forms can assist you in gathering the necessary information for your tax preparation. Upon receipt of your data, our team will relay any additional questions or information to complete the preparation process.

During the typical filing season (January – April) we require at least 4 weeks of lead time to receive, process, complete and review a return. Note processing times will vary depending on the complexity of your returns and timeliness of responses to questions. We process filings on a first come first serve basis so the sooner you can get into the queue the quicker the returns will be addressed.

When your returns are complete, you will be contacted via e-mail or phone call. We supply digital copies of your returns by default and are happy to provide a hardcopy as desired.

When we receive this form signed, you are giving us permission to electronically file your tax return. Understand that we cannot submit returns without this form.

We request electronic signature of form 8879 through DocuSign. If you can’t access DocuSign, please reach out for an alternate method.

We have base minimum fees for all tax return types, which can be provided upon request. We offer fixed fee consulting engagements and hourly rate services depending on need. As part of our scoping process, estimates of fees can be provided.

We accept cash, check, credit/debit card, eCheck and ACH. Online payments can be made here.

Checks should be payable to MAS Advisors and mailed to 15 Sky View Drive, Ste 101, Cumberland Foreside, ME 04110

Below are the tax deadlines that apply by return type, assuming a normal calendar year filing period. If the date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline shifts to the next business day:

  • Form 1040 Individual Income Tax – April 15th or once extended October 15th
  • Form 1041 Estate and Trust Income Tax – April 15th or once extended October 15th
  • Form 1065 Return of Partnership Income – March 15th or once extended September 15th
  • Form 1120 Corporation Income Tax – April 15th or once extended October 15th
  • Form 1120S S Corporation Income Tax – March 15th or once extended September 15th
  • Form 990 Organization Exempt from Income Tax – May 15th or once extended November 15th
  • Form 706 Estate Tax – 9 months from the date of death, with 6-month extension period available
  • Form 709 Gift Tax – April 15th or once extended October 15th

  • Should a return not be ready to file by the applicable deadline, the IRS and state taxing authorities allow for extensions to provide more time to complete and file the returns.
  • The extensions are good for 6 months from the original filing deadline, in most cases, and the returns need to be filed no later than the extended deadline to be considered timely filed.
  • In most instances we are able to efile the extensions directly with the taxing authorities. In the event you need to make a payment, a printed version of the extension can be supplied.
  • An extension does not provide additional time to make any necessary payments of taxes due. To avoid late payment penalties and interest it is prudent to make a payment of any expected liability with the extensions.

Technically no, but the IRS and state taxing agencies reserve the right to penalize you for not making adequate payments to meet the safe harbor requirements. As part of our return processing, we will recommend the amounts you should pay to avoid these penalties and work with you to understand changes impacting future tax cycles and the associated taxes.

To properly assess the notice, we will require a copy which can be uploaded, emailed, or mailed to our office. Once we have a chance to review, we will provide next step instructions.

  • Any changes in marital status and/or dependent, including applicable SSNs we may not already have on file.
  • Changes in your bank account used for direct deposit or auto debit for taxes.
  • Changes in your mailing address, email account and/or primary phone number.
